Richard Misrach was born in Los Angeles, in 1949. He is known for his photographs of human interventions in landscapes. Many of his works are represented in over fifty major museum collections around the world. He also has been photographing the American desert for more than twenty years now. When he takes pictures of a specific place or site, he thinks of them as being similar to history paintings, instead of a journalism photo.
